Belt Delight!

There was a time when big broad belts were a thing of the past. Archaic remains of an older generation's wardrobe. But suddenly, they are one of the most fashionable pieces of accessories you can own. They are really easy to wear because they work over pants, shirts, skirts, dresses, sweaters, coats - you just name it. Moreover, it adds structure and style to the outfit. That may be the reason why you can spot fashionistas flaunting the fiercest belts.

I have been bitten by the belt-bug too but instead of going for the boldest, brightest ones, I chose to go for a simple matching piece for this outfit. The whole idea was gray and black but then I thought of adding a little color and hence the red shoes.

Brooch Me!

Hey All!!

Meet my latest obsession - The Brooch.

I have been going so crazy about brooches that I bought some, dug some and fashioned some out of old and new earrings. They are unlike any other piece of jewellery because there is no rule that says you have to wear them any specified way. Of course, a brooch adds a lot of pizzazz to a vest, a blazer, a coat, a shirt, a sweater, i.e., to all the regular pieces one might think of wearing them with. But this piece of jewellery looks so good with even the most unconventional pieces of clothing.

I have been experimenting with scarves, hats, purses and belts. Good old brooches work with all of them. And they are available in so many shapes and sizes and colors that however fussy one is, he/she will still find one that works.

Tan and Black!

Nothing beats the feel of suede and if that suede is both fauna-friendly and light on the pocket, it is equivalent to having your cake and eating it too. So, there is all the reason in the world for me to love this faux-suede dress from Forever21. Paired with black, this deal of a dress looks rich and classy without being boring. It works really well with burgundy/maroon too. I will certainly wear it next with my burgundy pumps and a matching scarf or necklace.

Although it isn't spring yet but it has been rather sunny and warm as of late. Which gives me a chance to shun the layers of coats and sweaters and strut in mini dresses and skirts. I was especially glad that I got a chance to wear my new sunglasses for this shoot. These were a gift from hubby for Valentine's Day and they are so versatile and so cool.

Party Ready?

I don't really fancy a lot of gold and bling usually but of late I have developed a taste for the shinier things in life. I got this jumpsuit around New Year's but the weather wasn't conducive for sleeveless outfits, and I really didn't want to wear it with a zillion layers on top of it. Finally, this week we had a little sun and it was warm enough so, I didn't lose a moment and got this out.

This jumpsuit is certainly one of my fancier ones. The others that I have are much more casual (click here for the day look). Despite the gold faux-belt, it is really easy to wear this almost everywhere. I can add a structured blazer and a pair of black heels and wear it to office. Whereas, it just needs strappy flats, a scarf  and some oversized sunglasses to work for a casual brunch with my buds.

However, it was the smoothest and the easiest to pair this jumpsuit with golden pumps and this sling purse. Funny thing is, it was Ashu who spotted these pumps at the store while I was reluctant to buy them 'cause I thought they were "too shiny". Now I LOVE them. I guess old hubby knows a thing or two about fashion after all!

Messy Match!

Hello All!

So what inspired this post was an article in one of the leading fashion and lifestyle magazines. The article was an elaborate list of things we women do that make us look messy. The mess-list comprised of things like having your shirt only half-tucked in, your underwear showing inadvertently, not styling your hair well and...having your hair band wrapped around your wrist. It all brought out my evil laugh...muhhaahahaha! Although it may be good to know some of this stuff and use it when you want to look your best, sometimes it is also perfectly alright to toss it with an unsightly flip of imperfect hair.

And a hair band on the wrist! Why should I even worry about that unless it fits too tight and hinders my blood circulation? For that matter, I like having my shirt half-tucked in and I often don't feel like styling my hair. Personally, the only place where I might be bothered with such stuff is in an office. All other time is me-time. I may look messy from time to time but messy is fun, especially when I look hassled but am not hassled at all. We women can be prim and proper one day and sillied-up the next day. That is one of the ways we surprise ourselves every day. Fashion can be thoughtless, careless and totally moody.

Hence, without further ado, presenting the uneven shirt and the unstyled hair.
