The Springy Shirt Dress!

Hey All!!
I am waiting at the airport, all set for a thirty-four and half hour journey to India! Blame the long boring layovers. However, I am not complaining at all. It's been over three years since I saw my family and I super excited to finally spend some time with them. Yayyyy!!
When at the airport, my favorite way to kill time, is to either read a thrilling book or indulge in some good old people-watching. I am meeting some really sweet, lovely people today and some of the outfits I am seeing are also amazing. I am really envious of people who can manage to travel in crisp shirts and sharp blazers. It has to be a difficult art to master. I for one, can barely keep my slouchy sweatpants and oversized tees in place. Since my current outfit is more than a little tardy, I will share pictures from a photo shoot we did a week ago.
The dress is from Banana Republic and I managed to get it for zero dollars. Hurray for coupons and gift cards!!!

Turtlenecks and Skater Skirts!

Hey All!

Starting the week with a fresh OOTD and a fresh perspective.

If you caught the previews in the last post (look here), you know that we have a guest blogger today. And she is here with a really cool versatile outfit. So without any of my jibber-jabber, as promised, presenting the affable Amrita Chopra.

Before we embark on this fashion journey, I believe it would be best that you know a little about your co-traveller (ME!!!). Let`s play a game. You have to find out which ones are true about me:

1.       My Name is Chopra, Amrita Chopra

2.       As a kid I used to play school in the garden and teach my flower pots - all the while wearing high heels borrowed/stolen from aunties visiting my mum. And my class wouldn’t end until I was found with the borrowed/stolen high heels or until one of my pupils would crack (no homework = thrashing).

3.       My first job was to sell ice up in the Himalayas but I had to give up that job due to global warming.

4.       I am an Internet "explorer" who tries to explore/copy codes from the Internet and paste it to  places that make the multi-million dollar projects run. In short, I am a software engineer.

5.       I came face to face with my fashionation…errr..fascination to fashion when I realized that I can guess brands just by looking at the clothes (Call it a blessing or a curse, I have it.).

6.       I feel confident enough to move mountains when I dress up real nice.

7.       I am heading to Mount Kilimanjaro next month, in the nicest dress I have, to see how confident I really am.

8.       I believe it`s going to be a fun journey with you by my side!!!!!!

All aboard!!!!

No, the photos are not from the 70`s in case the turtlenecks made you think so. And yes, turtlenecks are officially back in the fashion! In fact, the turtlenecks were never out of fashion. I always loved how you can make them work for office formals, and when you get off and have to rush to a party, all you have to do is don a jacket or a sweater and Voila!!! You are ready!!!

Noticed the change of footwear??? Well, I tried to kill two birds with one stone. The boots give me a dressy look whereas the sling back sandals give me more of a laid-back casual look. That’s all, lovelies. Stay pretty and keep experimenting.

LUSH Thursdays!

Hello Everyone!

Today's post - my latest LUSH purchases AND the new guest blogger - Amrita Chopra!

So I am shopping at my local LUSH store for shampoo and I see some cute, colorful pieces of clothes hanging at the counter. They turned out to be knot-wraps, made from 100% recycled PET plastic bottles. Isn't that great! Reducing all that plastic waste by turning it into beautiful fashion. Not just that, the whole project helps disadvantaged women in India support themselves and their families. These pieces priced at around six to ten dollars can be used as scarves, hair ties or recyclable gift wraps. There were so many but I liked this the best. It is so colorful and the florals just scream 'spring'!

*Disclaimer: This is NOT a sponsored post.*

The other thing I bought was this delicious lip scrub. Yup, delicious. It is all natural and has mint so it is pretty much edible. Yum yum yummmmm!

And now - Introducing Amrita Chopra! Watch out for her next guest blog post.

A little about the look (by Amrita) - The objective of this experiment is to achieve ‘Simplicity’ and ‘Elegance’. The terrific, scientific and the pacific formula I used to achieve the desired output is “Pink + White → Simpelegance”. I also used the bib necklace as a catalyst assuming that the results would appear sooner. O.M.Gucci!!! I am out of chemistry jargon!!! A little more of those chemistry books and a little less of fashion magazines would have been nice. Anyway, in my library of combos, something like pink pants, white shirt and a pair of moccasins with cute leathery bows are cool (temperature-wise and fashion-wise). They are also a pretty neat substitute to those embellished dresses for summer daytime parties that are out and under the sky roof. So, that's all for now.
Stay pretty and may Gucci be with you.

Mostly Mustard!

Hello All!

As I have said before, a jumpsuit works for every season. I got this utility jumpsuit in fall, at LOFT for seventeen dollars. It was a super-duper bargain and the quality is great. I love its laid back, slightly messy, slightly crumpled look. For winters, I ended up wearing it with jackets and coats but now in spring, I can finally shed those layers and enjoy the outfit for itself. The belt that came with this adds a little more structure and fancies up the plain suit. It is a full length jumpsuit but I like to wear it just below the calves, like in the pictures (just pulled up the tapered stretchy ankle part).

Although I am not always a matchy-matchy person, I matched my shoes with the belt this time and kept the outfit neutral. The only pop of color is the red Mac Ruby Woo lipstick.

This was the last photo shoot with my hair long and all black. Thanks to some split-ends, I recently cut my hair short and got some caramel highlights (check out the recent Instagram pictures). Looking at these pictures now, I am missing my long hair terribly. Will just have to wait for it to grow back!
