Shorts and Plaid

So, this is when summer starts to lose its charm. It is too dreadfully hot, to step outside even during the evenings. The sun has turned up its wrath and the summer shine has been replaced by scorching rays. Anyhow, thanks to the one who invented shorts, the heat gets a little more bearable.
Denim shorts are my go-to piece of clothing for the season. However, I feel, they are a bit too casual for any fancy or formal outing. I am a sucker for semi formal dressing and formal shorts fit the bill just perfectly. They look great, both with casual sandals as well as superformal pumps. In the past, I have paired them with a golden, party dress (here).
I had put this on with a plaid shirt, just for the photoshoot but will definitely wear the outfit to a casual lunch soon enough.

Florals, Summers and Sandals

Hi Everyone!
How is summer treating you? I am enjoying all the sun as the sun is a rare sight in Oregon and I am really loving the long days and the stretched, pleasant evenings. As I mentioned in my earlier posts, I am gorging on ice-creams and sugary sodas almost everyday. So, naturally, I am gaining weight and my meagre exercising routine isn't able to help me with it. Despite this, I would rather gain a few pounds than give up the scrumptious scoops.
Another thing I am loving in summer, is the floral print! They have been on trend since spring of course, but they are still going strong. There are gorgeous floral wedges and pumps and equally pretty handbags. Also, there is amazing floral jewelry, both fine and fashion. Of course a lot of us can not afford on-trend fine jewelry all the time but fashion jewelry is available for every budget and is equally beautiful. Here's a pretty one and on discount too! And here's another one. There are a lot of ways to play on this trend from cute clips to fancy swarovski brooches but my favorite is the floral dress.
This is a dress that I bought sometime back and wore it just once, as I was almost all the time in my shorts this time (they are so comfy!). I could not take good pictures at that time, so, this time, I wore it, just for the shoot. I love how delicate and airy this dress looks. It is perfect for a casual day-date or for a girl's day out. In fact, the only other time I wore it, I wore it to a beach dinner.
Here are some pictures of the dress. Hope you like it!
P.S.: Excuse the weird poses.☺ 

Summer in Black and White

Hi Babes!

The days are getting hotter and longer and obviously the hemlines are getting shorter. However, that is not the only way to beat the heat. Lightweight pants make it easy to move beyond the realms of tiny skirts, shorts and sundresses, and still keep one's cool.

Also, such summery pants with front slits are a great way to take the bohemian look to a new level. Revealing a little is always kind of fun, is it not?

Last weekend, for a fancy evening coffee, I paired a full-sleeved peasant top with front-slit palazzo pants and bright red pumps. Chokers are my absolute favorite piece of jewelry these days and I pair them with almost everything. A touch of red on the lips and on the nails and done!

Orange & The New Black!

Hi There!
How is summer treating you? I am gorging on ice cream and sorbets already, and my shorts and sundresses are finally seeing the light of the day.
Talking about summer, I  keep reading everywhere that "Orange" is the "New Black". Many consider this true and have started living by this new rule. However, I do not believe this will ever hold true for a person like me. My entire wardrobe is full of a hundred and fifty shades of black and I intend to keep it that way.
Having said that, I love love LOVE orange!  A nice bright orange is a great pick-me-upper any day. I especially adore orange nails and lips. Also, a nice orange dress (link here) or a perky little skirt (link here) can brighten up an otherwise dull day.
So why pick and choose, when you can have both black and orange, in the same outfit?
I had put together this outfit for a lunch last week. Although, I suppose, this would work perfectly for a fancy dinner too. Formal shorts paired with a simple silk shirt and black kitten heel pumps. The clutch makes the ensemble a little fancier, whereas, the choker just gives it a quirky little edge.
Hope you like the outfit and are tempted to shop for some orange!
