Of Bow Ties and Sequins!

Hi All,

This look is half inspired by Doctor Who and half by vintage fashion photographs. I have always loved sequins whereas my love for bow ties is considerably new-found (I owe it to the Eleventh Doctor- "Bow Ties are COOL!").

When I started looking through shops, I could not find any good ties, at least in the women's section. However, Tommy Hilfiger, The Tie Bar and Michael Kors have a lot of amazing pieces for men which can easily and prettily work really well for women too! So far I have bought just a single bow tie from the men's section which you will see pretty soon. The "bow tie" in the current outfit is basically a big bow pin from a hat which I modified a bit.

Hope you find the outfit interesting!

Road Trip!

We had a great time last weekend while on a fun road trip to Lincon City, Oregon. It was sunny and pleasantly windy AND this time we got to roast marshmallows on the beach! Yay!!

We stayed at a beautiful beachfront Bed & Breakfast place - Pana Sea Ah. This place was way beyond our expectations with little surprise touches in our room, home-made brownies and the game table! If you visit Lincon City, you should definitely try this B&B. We had a wonderful time lazing on the beach, taking long strolls and finally falling asleep to the sound of roaring waves!

Sharing a bundle of pictures with you!

Abstracts

Summer will be over soon. It is time for adding some fall fashion to your wardrobe!

Abstract print is one of the strongest flavors of the new season. While last year floral abstracts made patchy niches in the summer and fall fashion, this year the prints have become bigger, bolder and more individualistic.

There is no best way to wear these prints. This trend is all about experimentation. You can wear it in softer colors and smooth curves, peppy fluorescents and whirly patterns OR go fierce by mixing it with animal prints and geometrical shapes.

After all,  fashion is art. Every individual is an artist and there should not be any right or wrong when it comes to art!

I wore this abstract print shift dress for an afternoon tea at the Heathman Hotel, Portland. The Tea Court is small, snug and beautiful with a cozy fireplace and piano. Their tea menu is amazing and so are the tea cakes, cupcakes, scones, sandwiches, croissants, marshmallows and everything else on that tempting cake stand. It was also really thoughtful of them to provide equally delicious and innovative alternatives to some non-vegetarian dishes (e.g., they replaced smoked salmon in the profitroles with tangy raw mango pulp). Needless to say, culinary enthusiasts that we are, I and my husband had a great time!
