New Year's Eve - Last Minute Outfit Ideas

Hi Friends,

The new year is about to begin which means a lot of new possibilities and fun times are ahead. It is the time for new year resolutions (....most of which will be broken within a week) and also for the New Year's Eve parties. While many would have decided their party outfits, few of us might still be pondering over it.

Although I absolutely love shopping, I can not always afford a whole new outfit for every occasion. I am sure there are many of you like me who do not want to burn a hole in the pocket before the New Year begins. However, it does not mean girls like us can not look pretty for a party! By using a little imagination we can create beautiful outfits from our existing wardrobes without spending a dime.
While I was wondering what to wear tomorrow, I got a few ideas. Here are some of those party-outfit ideas that combine the simplest wardrobe basics like Little Black Dresses, Black/Red Pumps, White Shirts and Gold/Silver Jewelery. Just mix and match and be ready to celebrate the New Year in style!
Have fun! See you all next year!!

Camel and Pink

I am sure a lot of you have been feeling the winter blues just like me. Grey skies and early nights are not really something I look forward to. One of my tricks to get over this dull cold is to add bright, perky colors to the regular black, greys and browns of the season.
I believe that introducing some bright yet complementing colors to an otherwise boring winter wardrobe gives me a lot of options to mix and match and it helps me not look like I am in the same outfit over and over.
Such colors can be added in the form of any outfit-separate like a top/skirt/pant/sweater/coat. However, good quality coats are usually expensive so instead of buying a dozen coats, I find it easier to have a few neutral colored ones which I can wear with happy colored pants, sweaters, skirts and tops. Now what is a happier color than pink? So, for this outfit I added pink-fuchsia pieces to a camel and black outfit. The other colors I am looking forward to experiment with this season are - red (the color that fits in through every season!), mustard, purple, teal, navy and burgundy.
So what is your fashion trick this season? Please share your fashion trials and triumphs through the comment box.

Cruising Along!

It has been a really long time since I posted anything. First I was held up with some urgent personal work and then I was down with a minor eye infection and so on. Hence, this post has been due for almost a month now. Anyways, as they say - better late than never!
I went on my first cruise last month. It was a short trip of 3nights/4days from Long Beach to Ensenada, Mexico. I usually suffer from sea sickness (actually motion sickness in general) when travelling even small distances on boats or smaller ships. So I was wary of cruising. However, it was a wonderful and pretty comfortable experience.
I was a bit confused while packing for the trip but was later glad to find out that I had packed just the right quantity and quality. Apart from the usual sunscreen, sunglasses, flip-flops and cosmetics, I packed the same stuff that I would pack for a nice beach resort. I had also incorporated a few formal pieces just in case. I was glad that I had done so because although there were no formal nights on this particular cruise, almost everyone was very formally dressed for every dinner and afternoon tea.
So this was what comprised my luggage- A formal calf length skirt, 2 formal tops, a semi formal dress, one sari, two day-dresses/cover-ups, one swimsuit, a pair of jeans and a casual shirt for the shore tour, a pair of formal shoes, a pair of flat sandals, a pair of sneakers, a light shawl, scarves and some simple jewelery to mix and match.
Here are a few pictures. Hope you like them!
